Measures to Keep You Safe During Events

The Detroit Regional Chamber takes the health and safety of our team members and guests very seriously. We have implemented a set of preventative measures that will aid in minimizing exposure to respiratory infections, such as Coronavirus/COVID-19. The Chamber will ask all venues to disinfect facilities before our arrival and encourages all guests to take the following precautions:

1. Keep hands clean: Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds often, especially after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose, going to the restroom, and before consuming food.

2. Cover coughs and sneezes: Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and then promptly throw away the tissue.

3. Verbally say hello: Refrain from physical contact. Handshaking, fist-bumping, and elbow bumping have been discouraged by some health professionals.

4. Carry disinfectant wipes and sanitizer: We will request all venues to disinfect facilities before our arrival. Based on lack of supply the Chamber will not be able to ensure that hand sanitizer and/or disinfectant wipes will be available on-site. We strongly advise all attendees and participants to bring their own sanitizer and wipes as well as wash hands frequently while at the event.

5. Be mindful of commonly touched items: Cover your index finger with a tissue or napkin before pressing the elevator buttons, door handles, coffee service items, etc.

6. Remain home when sick: If you have any sign of illness, even if there is no relation to COVID-19 – common cold symptoms, respiratory disease, medication-induced cough, etc.– for the safety and peace of mind of others, please stay home.

The Chamber will continue to monitor the situation and keep members informed. Read more about what the Chamber is recommending.
