Monroe County Community College signed the Detroit Regional Talent Compact, an equity-driven initiative led by the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Detroit Drives Degrees program. The Compact brings together stakeholders from business, philanthropy, government, K-12, and higher education to accomplish two goals: increase the region’s postsecondary attainment rate to 60% and reduce the racial equity gap by half by 2030.

“Ultimately our goal at MCCC is to ensure the prosperity of our entire region and the state,” said Dr. Kojo Quartey, president of MCCC. Upon joining the Compact, MCCC is now one of over 40 cross-sector leading organizations and leaders through the Detroit region that have formally ratified the Detroit Regional Talent Compact and pledged their support.

The Compact’s vision is a Detroit region with systems, policies, and resources that allow every resident to access and succeed in postsecondary education, leading to careers that fill the region’s talent needs. It strives to improve social mobility that empowers residents to earn a family-sustaining wage and contribute to the economic and social well-being of their communities.
